A proud mommy moment.........

Today, I attended the Straight "A" breakfast in honor of my 9 yr old daughter Peri (left with Principal McNeely) and 10 other 4th and 5th grade students. Getting straight "A's" nowadays is a big deal and I was so proud of my daughter, the eldest of our three daughters. I couldn't have asked for a better example for Sanai (5) and Piper (1....2 soon).

I entered Keidan elementary school in Detroit each morning passing the plaque that proudly displayed my mother's name as the only student to receive straight "A's" during her years there. Whoa!!! This was something that I never accomplished during my years at Keidan, so in a strange way it felt good to see my daughter receive such an honor.
It was a proud mommy moment, I pray for many more days like this.

The Oscar nominations are in.................

Well, I was disappointed once again to see that Denzel didn’t get a nod for either of his great roles in American Gangster or The Great Debaters. But, the academy did recognize Ruby Dee for Best Supporting Actress in American Gangster and the movie itself got a Best Art Direction nod.

I never thought that the old Oscar folks would let us have some Oscar hooplah two years in a row. Making history and all...........

Forecast for 2008!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

2008 is set to be THE year for me in terms of my writing career, personal growth and just the time to get somethings poppin'. I have such a feeling deep inside of me that things are getting ready to starting coming to fruition in my life. I self-published my second book last year, Candy for My Soul, in hopes of creating a buzz for myself in my quest to land a literary agent and book deal. So far so good, I can hear the buzzing on the streets and on the web.

Will my two books be sold soon? Stay tuned.
